Description: The linseed is the seed(fruit) of the plant linen. The linen (linteum) is a genus,Unifying one-year-olds and perennial grassy plants and half-breeds from Lin family (Linteum). The Cultivated linseed (Lini semen) is grown as fibrous and oily plant. Depending on the variety the Linseed has brown or yellow wrapper, light nut taste and contains around 40% fat (linseed oil). Collection time: Linseed crop is harvested 150 days after sowing, when the seeds ripen acquire brown colour.
Chemical composition/Content and dualities: The linseed is extremely rich in omega-3, mucous substances, linamarin, protein, lecithin, sterols, plastohormanol, vitamin B1,B2,B6 and E, minerals. As well as nicotinic, folic and pantothenic acid, small quantities cadmium and prussic acid. The unbleached linseed contains up to 40% valuable fibers – almost two times more than all the other oily cultures.
Medical action and application: The lin seeds contain 2 types dietary fibers – soluble(20-40%) and not soluble(60-80%). It’s proven that the soluble fibres helps with the regulation of the blood sugar and the lowering of the cholesterol and blood pressure. The non soluble fibres facilitate the bowel movement and they help with constipation and to people with irritable bowel syndrome or with diverticular disease. The Linseed is a wonderful source of plant proteins, which help to boost the immune system, prevent tumors and have antifungal properties. The dietary fibers in the Linseed control the weight by suppressing hunger and increasing the feeling of satieity.
