Other names: Hyssop is a perennial medicinal plant in tuft format from the Lamiaceae family with a height of 40 to 80 cm. The root is highly branched, deeply penetrating the soil. The stems are simple or paniculately branched, curly, woody at the base. The leaves are fibrous, opposite, sessile, lanceolate, arranged in a cross, entire, with a folded edge. The flowers form blue spike-like inflorescences at the top. The hyssop calyx is tubular, the corolla is bilobed, violet-blue with 4 stamens. The fruit splits into 4 nuts. The plant blooms from July to September with a pleasant aroma.
